DUST MITE Gallery

    Dust mite Allergy

    Dust mite in mattress

    • dust mites? They're microscopic relatives of ticks and spiders. They're invisible to the naked eye — you'll fit about 50 on the tip of a pin. They live for up to three months (females live longer). They reside in mattresses, pillows, carpets, upholstered furniture and house dust.

    • Proteins in dust mite droppings and their dead carcasses can cause lung hypersensitivity when inhaled. They'll irritate airways and eyes on contact. Prolonged exposure to dust mites can cause chronic inflammation, wheezing and difficulty breathing, all related to asthma.

Is Dust allergy and dust mite allergy, one and the same?

    • It's often hard to decide whether an allergy is from dust or dust mites. That’s because dust mite allergens are often found in dust.

    • Dust is formed of particles tracked in on shoes, shed from people and pets, and blown in through windows, doors and cracks in your home. It may well be dirt, pollen, skin epithelial cells, body hair, textile fibers, bacteria and dust mites.

    •  Fine particles remain suspended within the air and are breathed in, while heavier particles compose the dust we wipe off surfaces.

Can dust cause allergies or is it irritant?

Dust is everywhere and might irritate anyone’s airways whether or not they suffer from any known allergies. If you've got bad allergy symptoms and suspect dust is the main cause, you'll want to look to get deeper because dust contains many things, including:

    • insect parts from dust mites and cockroaches, also their waste
    •  mold
    • pollen
    • pet dander from fur or feathers

Do you know what are dust mite allergy symptoms?

Dust mite and dust allergy symptoms are almost like those of a common cold. Just notice how long symptoms last. If they persist for more than 10 days, it’s likely allergies.  Symptoms may include:

    • runny nose
    • sneezing
    • stuffy nose
    • red, itchy, watery eyes
    • itchiness of the roof of the mouth or throat
    • coughing
    • pressure or pain in the cheeks and face (sinus pressure)
    • A rare dust allergy rash may appear, causing redness, itchiness, or hives.

Do you have asthma and allergy?

If you have got asthma and a dust mite allergy, look for:

    • chest pain, breathing tightness feeling in the chest
    • wheezing
    • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • severe asthma attack

Consult your doctor if you have got severe, long-lasting symptoms. Seek emergency care if wheezing, shortness of breath, or trouble breathing worsens or if it happens during sleep.

    Is dust mite allergy curable?

There is no cure for a dust mite allergy. But now ALLERGY IMMUNOTHERAPY is available in the market, which may challenge it and halt its progression, thereby controlling hypersensitivity. It’s best to target symptom management and underlying disease control. Dust mites naturally and commonly occur in our homes, and it’s not possible to eliminate them completely. However, you may reduce their numbers in your home and they also need treatment :

    • Use air conditioning or dehumidifiers to decrease the humidity to between 30 and 50 percent. Decreased humidity inhibits the reproduction and survival of the mites.  Can take a look at various available options in the following link we found useful

What is Dust Mite allergy treatment?

If limiting exposure to dust mite allergens doesn't help symptoms, then your doctor may recommend allergy medications. Many alternative varieties of medications are available.

    • Over-the-counter antihistamines and decongestants are common treatments for dust mite allergy. can see options of decongestants for kids  by clicking here, for other adult decongestant spray click here These remedies help relieve sneezing, runny nose and itching.
